UX Case Study

GetGamers, or GG, is an app concept meant to unite gamers from all communities, making communication easier and meeting groups for specific activities inside their favorite games.

This app is directed at players of multiplayer games, based on the necessity that these players must find groups or teams for specific activities.

This is a UX case study in which I have designed a wireframe, prototype via Figma, conducted research with potential users, and identified a proto persona, primary and secondary persona, competitive analysis, identified strong and weak points, and defined MVP and MLP.

Ideation

Today, based on research carried out with volunteers, most gamers meet their friends inside the game they play or they already have met them in real life (IRL), 29,8% of the interviewed have met their friends inside the game but only 9,7% of them communicates with them inside the game which implies in a necessity of external apps for communication.

The proposal is simple, the user will create the group for the activity needed inside the app and other users will be able to look it up inside the app or be invited via link by the owner or group admins. Inside the group, there will be a description of the activity, information on the schedule, and a chat room for the participant's talk and match schedules. There will also be a shared calendar for the organization. In the chat, the participants will be able to send voice chat, images, memes, gifs, and emojis.

Further research identified that one strong lovable feature would be character creation, where the user will be able to personalize a character to better identify themselves, this will also be important as a capitalization feature, I will talk more about that in the research section.

In my studies, I have learned that most inventions and creations were made to solve a problem. One of the exercises inside UX is to think about 5 day-to-day personal problems and identify if others have the same issue and how to solve it.

The problem I experience with the game I play is that I have difficulty meeting groups to make specific activities inside the game happen. To complete an activity, it is necessary that the group is on the same schedule and aligned on the strategy that will be used to complete the activity.

Many times, I have found a group only to discover that there was no organization of the schedule, making the group useless since no one could be together at the same time to play and the game itself has no tool to coordinate schedules.

Communication is also done primarily using an external app where people usually send memes, funny comments, and videos and the schedule is forgotten about by the members.

So, with the problem outlined, I realized I could get everything in one place: Look for a group, chat, create schedules, and then Get Gamers to play with me!

Problem and Solution

Today, based on research carried out with volunteers, most gamers meet their friends while playing games or they already have met them in real life. 29.8% of people interviewed have met friends playing games, but only 9.7% of them communicate inside these games, which implies a need for external apps to communicate.

The idea is simple, the user will create the group for the activities desired within the app, and other users will be able to look it up on the app or be invited via link by the owner or group admins. Inside the group will be a description of the activity, information about the schedule, and a chat room for the participants to talk and match schedules. There will also be a shared calendar for the organization. In the chat, the participants will be able to send voice chat, images, memes, gifs, and emojis.

Further research identified that a defining feature could be character creation, where the user will be able to personalize a character to better identify themselves. This will also be important as a capitalization feature, which I will talk more about in the research section.

Proto Persona

The Proto Persona was created based on my idea of the user, I have identified my take on the problems and solutions I wanted and then created the Proto Persona.

Research

I have conducted research with 40 potential users with Google Forms, this was an easy and fast way to achieve diverse answers and also a few graphics to analyze, down below I'll present the questions and graphics to answers so I can demonstrate how
